Truth has recently been engaged by DET to provide a recommended approach for a communications and engagement strategy aimed at repositioning Federation Training as an agile, modern and sustainable training provider of choice. To be successful, the plan needed to be contextualised, supported and enabled by a strategic, coordinated approach to communication and engagement.
This operational recovery is obviously critical, but there is a high level of risk that it could be undermined or derailed by entrenched negative perceptions of Federation Training. This is particularly so in Latrobe Valley communities, where people are experiencing additional economic hardships, most notably Morwell with the recent closure of the Hazelwood power plant.
Our approach reflected the key areas in which Federation Training experiences explicit reputational challenges, and/or where there is potential to positively engage and influence key audiences (staff, students, communities) through increased communications activity.
